NBY

NBY (North East Baptist Youth) is a social group for young people, open to any student in grades 7 to 12. While most nights will include a short devotional time exploring the key themes of Christianity, the group mainly aims to provide a fun, positive alternative to sitting at home watching TV or playing Nintendo on a Friday night!

NBY is run by young adults from North-East Baptist Church. No background or involvement with our or any other church is necessary. While it is designed to be a local group for the Nundah/Wavell area, youth from anywhere are welcome. The group meets from 7pm to 9pm every Friday night of school, usually at the North East Baptist Church. Activities planned are designed to be ones which an average teenager will enjoy but which won't cost too much. The group is free except for when we have to cover outside costs (e.g. Volleyball).

Parents are asked to fill out a medical form on the first night of attendance, and are welcome to meet the leaders before dropping their youths off. Youths are encouraged to bring a friend!

LOOSENDS

Loosends is an Outside School Hour Care service administered by North-East Baptist Church as part of our service to God and the community. We care for pre-schoolers and primary aged children.

The program runs every school day from 7:00-9:00am and from 2:30-6:00pm. The staff are employed to care for the children and seek to meet their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.

The children take part in various activities, games and crafts and sometimes watch videos. Children are also assisted to complete homework.

Sunday Church Activities

CHILDREN'S CHURCH

We have a Sunday Morning Children's Church for children aged up to 11 years old which coincides with the second half of both morning worship services. We aim for a fun and relevant program for the children so they will look forward to coming to Church!

Kool Kids (creche) runs at the same time and is offered to young children from the time they can walk until they start prep. Unlike the school aged Sunday programs we operate all year round allowing families to participate in morning worship..

SUNDAY YOUTH

A cool program for kids aged 11-15 also runs during the second half of both morning worship services. Games, videos and relevant Bible study make for a fun and interesting time.

YOUNG ADULTS

NEB has an active group of young adults including a Young Adults home group that meet weekly and planned social activities.

Multicultural Ministries

e-COMMUNITY

e-Community is an English tutoring program for speakers of languages other than English. It meets on Tuesday nights at the Church building.

CROSS CULTURAL SUPPORT

Many have fled from Burma after decades of atrocities against ethnic groups including the Karen, Kachin  and Chin. The Lord started to bring some of these precious people to NEB in April 2008.  The majority group at NEB, the Karen, have come from Thai Refugee camps and the small number of Kachin and Chin from Malaysia. We seek to care for them through English classes and other support.

Other Social Ministries

NORTH-EAST SOCIAL GROUP

A social group aimed at building networks amongst people at NEB. Events range from Citycats, coffee at a nursery, dinner/lunch at a restaurant & cooking demonstrations. We try to keep the costs low for the event. For details contact Annette Higgins.
